Franz von Chossy

Pianist/Composer

Franz von Chossy (b. 1979, Munich) is a pianist and composer who studied Jazz Piano at the Amsterdam Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music.

He gained international recognition by winning the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2006 (Best Soloist) and receiving 2nd prize at the Montreux Jazz Solo Piano Competition in 2009. His awards also include the Golden Magnolia (Shanghai, 2018) and Best Performance in China (Guangzhou, 2021). Alongside his performing career, he has held leading teaching positions in Rotterdam and Guangzhou.

As a leader, he has released five albums: Awakening (2006), Pendulum (2009), When the World Comes Home (2012), Life Theater (2019) and Mirror 9 (2025). He has performed in over 50 countries and is also a member of the cross-over project Arifa.
