Philipp Rüttgers (1981), pianist/composer based in Amsterdam, has been praised as an innovative artist combining different genres and taking the listener to an exciting performance. In 2018, he received the composition assignment from the North SeaJazz Festival where he translated the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen into a contemporary music and visual performance. Recently he was invited by Just Listen Records to record together with violinist Oene van Geel, a chamber music duo. Their Album will be released 2020. Philipp is also the leader of his Music Laboratory, a modern jazz septet with traditional rhythm section and four horns. In Germany, he is part of the famous Jazz Rock/Fusion Group KaMa Quartet feat. Nippy Noya who makes furore with their tribute to JohnColtrane’s “Love Supreme”. He is a member of the contemporary Chronometers Orchestra led by Zacharias Falkenberg from Berlin and is a composer and pianist of the Jan Wirken Ensemble.Philipp also writes music for film such as “We Arnhem”on behalf of Introdans (NL). He can regularly be heard on clubs and festivals throughout Germany and Holland such as the Bimhuis, North Sea Jazz Festival, Unterfahrt, A-Trane …Philipp is teaching at the ArtEZ School of Music in Arnhem (NL),minor piano jazz and pop, ensembles and is mentor for the master students in Arnhem (NL).
