Yiorgos Bereris

Yiorgos Bereris is a Rotterdam-based contemporary pianist and composer. Born and raised in Greece, he brings elements of Mediterranean and Balkan musical traditions into his musical language. He has released three albums: Sea in Common (2026), Siga y Silente (2024), and Laros (2023), and has performed extensively with the Yiorgos Bereris Trio in European venues and jazz clubs. As a sideman, he has recorded and collaborated with artists from the jazz and world music scene including Kudsi Erguner, Kyriakos Sfetsas, Mediterraneo, Alba Careta, and Tereza Catarov. He has appeared at venues and festivals such as De Doelen, the Athens Jazz Festival, the Greek National Opera, Vortex Jazz Club (London), Jamboree (Barcelona), among others. Yiorgos earned his Bachelor’s degree in jazz piano at the Ionian University and later completed a Master’s at Codarts University in Rotterdam. His research focused on taksim improvisation on the piano, culminating in his award-winning master’s thesis Piano Taksim.
