Re:Connect with 2024 partner country NL

Ever since 2011 jazzahead! has focused on a different partner country every year, presenting that nation’s cultural scene in and around Bremen and the city’s institutions. In 2024 the Netherlands were selected as said partner country, represented not only in the eight showcases highlighting some of the best jazz musicians and bands the Netherlands have to offer, but also throughout the conference program, the trade fair and Clubnight.

Taking a look back at this experience, Mark van Schaick, one of the architects of this collaboration, will talk about the process and the success of this venture. With a background in music joumalism (OOR, Buma magazine, Gitarist, Slagwerkkrant, Interface), Mark has been interviewing, moderating, and presenting at various music conferences for more than 25 years. As the genre manager jazz, world, and classical at Buma Cultuur, and with his team, he is promoting those composers who are registered at BumaStemra, connecting people all year round, both nationally and internationally – annually at jazzahead! and especially during the partner country year of the Netherlands in 2024.
